Our Mission

We aspire to showcase nature's beauty and illustrate its significance to our daily lives. Moreover, we hope that our customers are inspired to protect and advocate for the environment specifically in Korea to ensure a greener future ahead.

The Problem

Ever since the end of the Korean War, South Korea has experienced rapid growth from a war-torn nation to an economic powerhouse. Though this development came with many undeniable benefits, it has also inadvertently turned the country into an extremely industrial, almost dystopian society contrary to the idealized narrative of a vibrant country defined by kpop, kimchi, and futuristic technology.

From unprecedented levels of pollution caused by factory dust to flash floods and forest fires ravaging the lands, Korea's environmental struggles have continuously intensified over the past few decades.

"In This World,
Concrete Flowers Grow"

In light of these environmental struggles, we decided to create 'Concrete Gardens', a non-profit organization and business aimed at bringing nature closer to home for those living in the heart of such a hyper industrial society.

Like a flower growing through the cracks of a concrete pavement, we hope that our plant kits can also become that small, yet powerful symbol of hope that nature can still coexist and even thrive within our cities.

School-Wide Plant Kit Distribution

As a smaller business, it was not easy for us to reach a large number of people even within Korea.

To achieve our objectives and make a more significant impact, we are organizing for multiple plant kits to be distributed to our school's middle and elementary classrooms together with our school's Youth for Unicef Club's gardening initiative.

We hope that through this experience, younger students may have the opportunity to work hands-on with nature and learn to care for the environment, helping to establish this ecological interdependance.

Our North Korean Brothers

As a non-profit, much of our funds were reinvested back into the business. However, a portion of the money raised was donated through a partnered NGO, Tongilmajung, to support the medical needs of North Koreans. This project focused mainly on tackling a prevalent health issue for North Korean refugees now living in Seoul: parasites.

So far, we have raised more than $2000, which has helped fund the purchase of  parasite medication in addition to other medicine for several refugees within Seoul.

Our Team

Rooted in a shared commitment to environmental sustainability, we are two high school students from South Korea working to create lasting change. Driven by a vision of greener cities and healthier communities, we strive to make eco-conscious living more accessible through our online plant store by connecting people with the beauty and benefits of plants one home at a time.
